December 2012 Moms

I need some ideas!

I am trying to think of a fun way to tell people about this baby once we are ready.  I am trying to think of something different.

For #6 we had personalized M&M's made up, for my MIL's birthday, that were pink and blue and had my due date printed on them and #6 is due.  She loved it and I want to do something just as fun this time around, but I am drawing a blank.

Please help, Thanks!!

Re: I need some ideas!

  • I have no ideas that would be helpful to you but we are going to give my parents a "Made in Alaska" onsie when we tell them.  We currently live in Alaska but are moving back to New York before the month is over.

Could you have all of your children wear a shirt or something similar that they will have to put the clues together?  I love trivia/game type things, so that's probably my best suggestion.

  • Love the M&M idea!! Too cute! I wish I had a good idea!! Sorry!!
  • What about making shirts for all your kids saying something like - "We are having another baby !" (Spaces for # of shirts...)

  • I actually just ordered little sonogram frames from KeeKoo that say 'Little Grandbaby' and has a sweet little poem with it. I plan on giving it to my Mother and MIL on Mother's Day.

  • We saw a video on YouTube and are stealing the idea...we are going to buy baby balloons (one "it's a girl," one "it's a boy," and one general baby themed balloon--on the "it's a ____" balloons we are going to put question marks on it).  We are going to bring a gift for Easter for MH's family (the balloons will be inside the box), then when they open the box, the balloons will float up and I am certain that my Sisters-in-law will immediately realize that we are expecting and hopefully we will get some fun reactions.  For my parents, we are bringing my dad a "birthday present"--we're doing the same thing, but it's just convenient that his birthday was last weekend.

We like this idea because a group of people will be able to receive the same information all at once. :)

GL making a decision with how to share!! :)

  • Building off of some elses suggestion why not get shirts with numbers on it for each kid and then you wear a shirt with the number of this baby right over your belly.
  • We told my sister in law by telling her since she's such an awesome Sister/Sister in Law we're promoting her to AUNT. We put it in a cute card. I told my brothers, my Mom's parents, and my Mom's sister over the phone because they're not coming to Easter. For my grandparents, I just kept telling them 'Y'all are such GREAT Grandparents. I am so blessed to have such GREAT Grandparents' until they figured it out - same thing with my Aunt, but GREAT Aunt instead of Grandparents obviously. For brothers, my husband actually told them and he called to "apologize for getting your sister knocked up."

For the rest of the family that we'll see at Easter, we are going to get my Dad an "Early Birthday Present" - but wrap it in Christmas paper. We're going to let him open it in front of the whole family so everyone will find out at once. Annnd... I'm totally stealing PP's idea and making it a giant box of pink and blue balloons with "It's a ????" written on them.

For the other part of the family (our family is HUGE) we're going to give them Easter eggs with onesies, little tiny socks, bibs, etc and have them all open them at the same time. :-)

Feel free to steal - I also really like the idea of getting everyone together for a group picture and having them say "____'s pregnant!" instead of "Cheese!"
