Ladies our little lion will be name Niko (knee-co) His daddy's name is Nicholas and although i am so in love with that name(nicholas), i hate when a child is called 'junior" rather than his name. So we choose to pick a different variation of Nicholas's name. Same meaning which i love, however it still gives the little one his individuality. We are a tad conflicted with the spelling. For some people who have never heard this name, i think the double "k" option will allow them to pronounce better. idk, today i have major slush brain ... hope i am making sense... tell me also if you pronounced it right the first time around.... thanks in advance...[Poll]
Re: baby's fn will be ... and poll for spelling of it !
Nico.
I totally pronounced Niko wrong.

I completely agree with this. Nico is a great name.
I would pronounce Nikko "Nick-o" and would wonder whether Niko was pronounced "Ny-co," like Nike with an o.
Nico is the italian spelling
Niko/Nikko is the greek spelling
We used Nico because we are italian. Either spelling is legit, but the C looks better to me.
I feel the opposite and think the C is more masculine. Are you Italian or Greek? If so I'd go with traditional spelling for either.
That's funny: I was just going to write that the K seems feminine to me. Niko looks like a name for a cute little Japanese girl, but Nico looks like the Nicholas variation you're going for. But as long as you don't spell it Nikko you'll get the pronunciation you want.
What statement are you going for?
I don't understand what sort of "statement" you're trying to make. Moreover, why does a child's name have to make a "statement?"
Nico just looks better. I would totally pronounce "Niko" as ny-co. Plus there's no "k" in Nicholas.
All of this.

This.
Thank u !
Nico or Niko.

I prefer Nico, but given this information I'll say Niko.
The only way that you get a Jr. is if the child has the first and middle name the same as the father. What about using Nicolas (since you said you love it) and choosing another middle name? So if dad is Nicolas Robert, just make little one Nicolas James, for example. Then you can still call him Nico/Niko, etc but he still has the option of going by Nick or Nicolas when he gets older. It's just an option. Since you are going to call him Nico/Niko/Nikko anyways, I would give him a name that ages and gives him options as he grows from a boy to a man.
As for the spellings, I still prefer Nico like others have said, but of your two choices, if I have to choose, then I would pick Niko.

Legally yes only when both names are the same but in the real world, not so much.
My FIL is named after his father (FN only) and he's junior to everyone.
Same with several friends I know.
OP. I prefer Nico. of your two options Niko is better because I definately pronounce it it "Nick-o" with two Ks

This, 100%
Niko or Nico.
Nikko would make me think it's pronounced Nick-o, like Nikki.
