Has anyone been to a LLL meeting?

I am going to my first LLL meeting tonight and am not sure what to expect.  It is at someone's house and I don't know anyone so I am a little nervous.  What are the meetings like?  Do you just sit around and chat?  Did anyone go while pregnant?  TIA!

I didn't go while pregnant, but went to my first one when LO was a couple weeks old.  It'll be okay though - I'm sure they'll be welcoming and friendly.  For our meetings, yes everyone just sits around and chats about different BFing concerns or issues and people give advice and support.  I would imagine if you haven't BF a baby yet, it could be information overload...but just try to not feel overwhelmed.  I think they'll appreciate your eagerness to learn about BFing early.  I hope you'll feel comfortable, but if you don't, I hope you'll at least feel comfortable to go when your LO arrives.  I really feel like it helped me to be around people who understood how difficult it was in the beginning.  Good luck!  Let us know how it goes!

There will be a topic and a leader or two to keep things going. My group is pretty friendly and has been such a great help to me, I'm thinking of becoming a leader! I started going while pg, and I think it helped a lot to get me in the right frame of mind.

I really wish I had gone when I was pregnant.  My leauge loves having pg moms.  There is a topic but we talk about what ever people are dealing with.  I live in a very leader heavy area so night meetings will often be me and a few leaders.  I love it all that knowledge in one room.  We are great at nursing but last month they helped me develop a pump weaning plan.  Enjoy.

I went to LLL meetings while pregnant and it was a really great experience.   They will have a topic for discussion during the meeting, there are four topics that they cycle through.   They will also have a time for you to ask any questions you have.   How structured the meetings are depends on the leader's style.  There are usually a range of moms at the meetings from pregnant moms to moms of toddlers.   In my area a couple of the leaders children are much older.
