How long should I wait?

Let me give you a little background - with my son I got pregnant while on bc.  Since October of this year, I have had major female issues.  One period lasted 3 months and the next one almost put me in the hospital.

 It has been over a month since the beginning of my last period.  My DH and I want to conceive another child this year because if we don't I will be having a hystorectomy (I'm barely 29)!

 How long do I wait to take a pregnancy test?  And what brands to you recommend?  My cycle is just so out of whack I don't want to get my hopes up.

I'm a big fan of First Response - They aren't the cheapest on the market and for that reason I try to wait 12-14 dpo. Oh, and I always test first thing in the morning!

Im actually a big fan of the cheapies.  Either the internet ones or the ones you get in the store.  I feel that they do the same thing but just aren't name brand.  The Wondfo ones off Amazon are great and you can buy like 20 for $7.  You can POAS til your heart's content. 

I'm sorry you are having so many whacky periods.  Have you discussed this all with your doctor?  It sounds like that is pretty concerning.  Hopefully you will get your BFP soon!
