first u/s so late!

So I had my appointment last week with my doctor, where she just went over what kind of things I should be expecting these next 9 months, what kind of blood work I will have done, just things that I should know. (First pregnancy) And then she went to tell me that my first ultrasound appt won't be until May 2nd!!!!! That seems like forever!! My DH and I are waiting for each day to pass quickly so we can see and hear our little bean.  I will be about 10 weeks then! Has anyone else had a late appointment like this?

At my first appointment which was at about 8.5 weeks they did a bedside scan only to verify the heartbeat thats it.  I wont have an actual ultrasound and get a picture until later also.  If it makes you feel better I think its longer than 10 weeks for me.

With my first pregnancy they didn't see me at all until 11 weeks and there was no u/s. My first u/s didn't come until 16 weeks and that was unexpected. I wasn't supposed to have my first u/s until I was 20 weeks.

some people don't have an ultrasound until 20 weeks it all depends on the persons insurance. I had mine at 7 weeks. It all depends on the persons insurance.

Ughhh, so sorry you have to wait so long! I have heard of others having to wait too, so you are not alone. Hopefully time will fly for you and it will be here before you know it.

This doesn't seen out of the ordinary at all to me. Your first appt also sounds normal. My Dr. will only do a 20 wk U/S and I found this out at 11 wks. I don't even think about how far away it is...just makes the time go by slower!

I had to have an u/s at 12 weeks because I was really sick and went to the hospital. The u/s was actually to check out my appendix, but the guy was really nice and showed me the baby too. If I hadn't had that one, I wouldn't have had an u/s until my anatomy scan at 19 weeks.

Yup, my first appointment was at 10 weeks and I got an ultrasound for dating purposes.

DH's cousin had her first u/s at 20 weeks! Now THAT is ridiculous! From what others have posted it is usually between 8 and 12 weeks so you are right in the middle. It just feels like forver though.

My first ultrasound will be at 10 weeks, too. Normal is anywhere from 6-12 weeks for a first ultrasound.

My first was at 10 weeks too  I loved it because my u/s "looked like a baby" whereas some of the earlier ones are a little harder to tell what's what.... i don't know, maybe that's just me! LOL. Congrats and I hope time passes quickly for you!

I never had an ultrasound with dd til I was 20 weeks along.

My first appointment is next week and I will be 10 almost 11 weeks at that time. The normal first appt is between 8-10 weeks.

My Dr wouldn't even schedule me until I was at least 8-10 weeks.  Which I will be about 8 weeks when I have my appt on 04/12.  I feel impatient too, but it will all come with time, that's what I keep saying to myself.

My first appointment is at 10 weeks.  It makes me nervous, waiting that long, but I saw plenty of others saying they went for a confirmation and have to wait until 20 weeks for a sonogram. I'll get both the same day.

The upside to doing everything at a later appointment is my husband won't have to take off work a few times in a few weeks.
