Should we do prenatal testing?

What are the benefits of doing prenatal testing?  I'm thinking it will just cause us a lot of stress and anxiety and worry.  I know lots of people that received "questionable" results from their prenatal tests and everything turned out just fine with the baby.  My biggest hesitation though with the testing is that if something was found, I would want to still proceed with this pregnancy and I'm pretty sure my DH would want to start over and try again.  I don't know that I could handle that fight or the lifetime of thinking he was blaming me.  Is it maybe better to not know?

Are you talking about the NT test? It's a personal preference. You should talk to your doctor about the pros and cons, and you should discuss with your DH fully.

This. Its totally a personal decision. Last time, I had blood work done and that was it. My H and I didn't feel like it was necessary to have anything invasive done because 1. the blood tests didn't indicate that any further testing was necessary and 2. we would have proceeded with the pregnancy regardless of high chances of genetic disorders/what have you (within reason, and it if anything had come up, we would have discussed it then.)

You should do whatever testing you are comfortable with. You don't have to do them. Good luck!

A woman's life is nine parts mess to one part magic, you'll learn that soon enough...and the parts that look like magic turn out to be the messiest of all.

This. Is there a reason you are considering further testing? Do you know you are a carrier for a certain genetic condition that concerns you? If not, I think the risks outweigh the pros.
