Re: Help I want to have a natural pregnancy and birth
I would look into having a midwife instead of an OB. Some books to look for:
(you may be able to find them at your local library)
The Thinking Woman's Guide to a Better Birth
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth (seriously, this is like my bible, I've read it like 5 times)
Pregnancy, Childbirth, and the Newborn
The Birth Partner (this one is really good for your SO to read, and it also really breaks down the stages of labor and gives suggestions for what your birth partner can do to help you with natural med-free pain management. Totally worth the money if you end up buying it)
Also, try checking out the Natural Birth board, those ladies have some really awesome info. I mostly lurk over there to get info but they are really nice and can give you some really good information. Welcome, and good luck!
Thank god you have a small body, if you were a fatty fatty then you could not get messages, because no one wants to message a non-small person.

It's so good to start planning early! I also agree to try to get in with a CNM (certified nurse midwife) for your care. Most OB/GYN clinics have CNMs on staff, but free-standing birth centers and some direct entry (midwives who do homebirth) are really wonderful resources and good to meet. It's hard as a first time mom b/c you don't know what it will be like, but with a good caregiver, supportive people (DH, friends, doula), and lots of information (read all those books suggested above), and a good natural birth class (a Bradley, hypnobirthing, Birthing from Within, etc. class) you should really feel informed and ready for the best birth possible.
With my first and second I had low-risk, easy pregnancies and was able to avoid all pain meds and have wonderful birthing experiences.
Also, I agree that you should check out the natural birth board - there are a lot of questions already being answered there.
...baby #3 is here...
EXACTLY.
Woaah...Take a deep breath. I really don't think she meant anything like that. I know a lot of people tend to think that smaller women will have a harder time with delivery (totally not true, by the way), so I think she may have been trying to express that concern, although her wording was really bad. Or I'm wrong and she's just weird. But either way, I don't really think your reply was very necessary.
Really? You think I need someone to tell me breath? I have been breathing for practically all my life, I got this breathing stuff down, but thanks princess.
Unnecessary? She said messages instead of massages. Fat people don't get messages, ever. I could give two shitts in if Skeletor captures Castle Grayskull and has her baby naturally on He-Man's face.

Princess? Haha. I really wasn't trying to cause problems. I have no idea what "fat people don't get messages" means. I was just trying to maybe shed some light on what I thought the OP meant. Also, if you really want to make fun of her for misspelling the word massages, maybe you could also go back and proofread that last post.
i thought this was a board for supporting fellow mamas and mamas to be...this person is obviously here to cause trouble and get attention. hopefully this is enough. yes, we're all looking at you, aren't you clever for pointing out a typo on the internet! oh, and what a funny he-man reference, you so crazy! is that good?
raven is just looking for some guidance and was giving some extra info she thought we'd find helpful.
raven, i agree about the ina may gaskin books, both her guide to childbirth and spiritual midwifery are fantastic, full of empowering birth stories. i'm also digging magical beginnings, enchanted lives by deepak chopra, and the natural pregnancy book by aviva jill romm. my absolute favorite though is a book called the continuum concept by jean liedloff. it's not really a pregnancy/birth book, it's more about after baby is born, attatchment parenting and such. really amazing and enlightening anthropological study of different cultures' approach to child-raising.
good luck, mama!
Thank you all for the advice I appreciate it, and as for the hole going back and forth about my post on (massages) sorry if I offended anyone! that wasn?t the case I just thought since I am very small that certain things will help more that others I didn?t mean it any type of way! I think it is very childish for someone people to take it that way and comment such nasty things on a blog like this but to each its own
Good luck to everyone and god bless your buddle of joy
