How do you manage photos?

If you are anything like me,  you have tons of pics of your DC.  How do you mangage them?  Do you print them all & store in photo albums the traditional way?  Do you just print certain ones & keep the rest on your pc?  Do you use photo sharing sites (which ones)?

I'm just trying to think of the best way to save them & have easy access to them as well.  TIA

Re: How do you manage photos?

  • I use photobucket, and I have them all in one folder on my desktop by week.  Probably not the best way to do it, but it's what I have for now!  About once a month I will go to CVS.com and upload the pictures I want hardcopies of.

  • I have been putting them on CD's to be sure I have back ups. They are also on the computer - the hard thing is knowing which new ones i need to add to CD's, so it's not a great system, but at least I know I wouldn't lose them if my computer pooped out. We also print ones we really like for simple albums.
  • I print very few of them. I have an online website on smugmug.com. It's paid but you can have unlimited storage. There are also free sites like snapfish and picasa that you can use.

When DD is a little older I will make a photo book using Blurb.

  • I keep them all on shutterfly but after I download them on computer, I immediately put them on a CD for safe keeping.

I am also going to 3 month photo books to get my pics in print. So every 3 months I will put together all my fav pics in a photobook with captions and what have you...they are much easier to store than a bunch of pics and I don't have time to put them in a photo album when they will just fall out eventually and photo albums are much bulkier than a photobook.

  • I upload them all to snapfish- each month has its own album. i then print a 'flipbook' montage of my favorites from the month. i then order my favorites in prints and scrapbook them and put them into albums. Its nice to have a small flipbook for each month and watch her getting older

  • Both of my boys have a folder on the computer, and all are backed up on Snapfish (own folders there, too). I only order prints that I want and the rest stay on the pc. I also have a "misc" folder and a folder of photos that still need to be uploaded to a photo hosting site. After I upload them to Snapfish, I seperate them into the appropriate folders. I just sat down a few weeks ago and did all the organizing....and it's made it so much easier!
  • Once a month I upload pics onto my pc, then onto kodakgallery and facebook.  Each month gets its own folder in each place.  We order hard copies randomly.

  • I use kodak easy share to upload all my pictures into files by month. I burn those pictures to CDs, so I have a back-up copy. Then I have a file called "pictures to print" with my favorites and in that file they are sorted by month. As I print them, I move them into a file named "prints." I also upload my favorites to my shutterfly account by month. I have way too many pictures, but what can you do?
