1st Trimester

Intro....36 and scared

Hey Guys!  I've been lurking around here for about a week now debating on whether to post or not.  I got my BFP last Monday about 4 days after my only child's 16th birthday. I am 6 weeks along. So needless to say this was a surprise for me and my husband.  We have been together 8 years and married for 4 months and never had one close call, yet here we are.  We are very excited but I am super scared and worried due to my age and other health concerns.  I am aware of the risk for miscarriage but I think I may be on the verge of obsessing over it.  I'm worried because aside from fatigue, and some lower abdominal "pressure", I don't feel pregnant.  Is this normal?  I had some bouts with nausea last week but nothing this week.  I'm worrying over not having symptoms.  Is this crazy?  I am scheduled for my confirmation of pregnancy on the 12th of this month.  I will drive myself crazy before then.

 Thanks for listening!!

  • Sounds very similar to what I have been feeling. I wouldn't worry too much about your age. many women have babies at 36 and older. Congratulations on your BFP and welcome!

  • Congrats! Try not to be nervous (I know easier said than done) and just enjoy your pregnancy a day at a time. Best of luck to you!
  • Awww! I am 33 going on 34 before I deliver. I think you should stop worrying and let the doctor do the worrying for you. It's perfectly normal to worry. My sister had her babies at 35 and 37 and they both turned out fine. Enjoy your pregnancy.

  • There's a Pregnant After 35 board to answer any age-specific questions you have. And it's really no big deal being pregnant when you're older.
  • Awww I know how you feel, only I have 4 years on you and a first time mom!  I'm the big 4-0!  Honestly if I didn't have the BFP, two ultrasounds and tons of bloodwork to confirm it I wouldn't know I as pregnant.  I really don't have any symptoms at all and I'm 10 weeks and going strong.  Maybe those of us who are older adjust to the hormones easier?  Who knows, but don't worry too much!  It took my husband and I years, numerous visits to the RE, rounds upon rounds of chlomid and surgery to get here.  And wouldn't ya know it, after all that we ended up pg in a month we were stressed and only did the baby dance twice!  Ugh!  Anyway, don't stress and enjoy every minute.  I've heard it goes by way to fast.  Don't read to much about the risks just find a doctor you can trust and listen to them, and only them.  Way too many people out there ready to hand you "advice" which is usually worrisome! Try not to worry too much about the risks, cause honestly there isn't a lot we can do about them anyway.  All we really have control over is eating well and taking care of our bodies the best we can.  Congrats!
