A friend of mine had her little one yesterday, He was born with Downs. She is only 28 and He is only 32 so it really opened my eyes that yes it can happen to anyone at any age. I am just asking if people please send thoughts and well wishes to her and her family. It's going to be a long road a head but a happy one. Thanks!
Re: Down syndrome
Hi - a friend recently told me about this blog by a woman who gave birth to a child with downs. She might find it to be a great support. Have her read the birth story that I'm linking below. It brought me to tears and was so touching and honest. The woman has also now written a book that is mentioned on her site. Her name is Kelle Hampton.

I will pray for your friend. I'm sure they will be great parents and downs kids are some of the sweetest kids ever; make sure to remind them that the child will most likely be able to meet all the milestones that everyone else does, just at their own pace(:
My fiance and I are going through the same scare right now. We're high risk for it and waiting for more blood tests to come back. I'm 18, he's 20. It's scary stuff!
Ditto! My OB just told us about this. My DH and I decided it would be best even if it cost us out of pocket. I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I'm sending prayers up for all of them.
my brother has downs (my mom was only 19 when she had him), and he is the joy of our family. He's healthy and brings a lot of light and laughter to our family. He's 27 now and wants to get married and have a life of his own. The possibilities for these guys is broadening faster than society can keep up with. I know it's a shock to get the news but I think with the right support system in the family and community, it is a blessing too.
