and I'm going to take full advantage of my companys policy to allow new mothers extended unpaid leave... I'll be home with my little man for a full 6 months! She was incredibly supportive, and I am so incredibly fortunate. I might get called here and there and do a little help from home to keep them going but I'm so relieved to get to spend this time with him. I've been in a complete panic over having to leave him with someone and the thought of taking him to daycare has put me in hysterics... so now I've got more time to get my head around it and hopefully be completely ready at 6 months to go back to work FT. I'm counting my blessings... I've been dreading having the talk with her at all but it turned out great after all.

That is so wonderufl!! I often wish I had had the balls to talk to my superiors back when I had DS. I was desperate for more time with him and I chickened out.

Good for you!  Why is it so hard to ask for the things that we want (sometimes need)?  I'm so glad you talked it out and that the boss was supportive!  Enjoy your time!  (I'm taking off 5 months and it still doesn't seem like enough time
