Cramping across belly button area?

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced some pretty significant cramping/pain that is around the belly button area but spans the entire stomach?  It is weird and pretty uncomfortable - definitely not lower abdominal cramps but I wouldn't call them upper, either.  They're literally just across the middle of my stomach and they've been going on (not consistently...but on and off) for a few hours now.  I called my dr. and spoke to his assistant, and she said that unless the cramping is coupled with bleeding (no blood) or it is more severe on one side versus the other, what I'm experiencing is totally normal.  I do trust them...but these cramps are pretty bad and I'm a little scared.  Has anyone else had these?

  • I had an issue with that last night, actually. I was trying to drink enough water (was at work, so it's not so easy to have water on hand like I really wish it was), so I don't know if it was because I needed more water, or maybe because I had been standing a while, or maybe even because I had been bending at the waist a fair amount. But it went away after I got home and rested.

  • Not trying to be rude, but...do you have to poop? If its across your belly button, its not your uterus, since your uterus is still back behind your pubic bone. I know that when I don't drink enough water or if I have gas or I have to poop, I get some pretty bad stomach cramps too. Drink lots of water, eat lots of fiber. Good luck!
