My mother has very noticeable varicose veins on her legs which resulted from her pregnancy with my brother. It was long before the modern treatments and to my knowledge, during the pregnancy she didn't wear compression stockings and hasn't treated her legs since. I am 7 weeks along and fear I will suffer the same fate. I do have a light vein on my right calf but it isn't protruding yet. It has been noticeably painful though in the last few weeks. Does anyone else have a similar genetic issue and/or varicose veins during pregnancy and, if so, what have you done to prevent getting severe, protruding varicose veins during and after pregnancy?
Re: Varicose veins
I got them bad unfortunately
I was 17 when I had my first child and by the time I'd had my second by 20 my legs looked awful. Theres one clump of thick veins that pop out from the inside of my calf just below my left knee and Ive noticed when Im pregnant it gets quite warm when I walk or with any kind of activity..Im so scared to get a cut there because itd be quite the bloodloss Im sure...my nana (mums mum) had them real bad and my mum has them pretty good, 29 and my legs are ruined
Hopefully modern science can fix me up one day lol
Good Luck!!!
This is hereditary in my family, sad to say my poor grandmother's legs were almost entirely purple!! I have a few already, and I'm just assuming they will get much worse, but I heard the compression socks were great for support and alleviating some of the pain.
