Maybe it's pregnancy hormones, but

My MIL didn't know that she was having twins (My husband was born first, and then his sister was a surprise). His sister's name is Jenica.

I've never been bugged by it before, but isn't it a smoosh name? Would you use it? I don't know if they just pulled a name out of thin air or what, but yeah.

I give someone who had a surprise kid more leeway in terms of names than someone who chose a terrible name and had several months to think about it beforehand.

Well they didn't know the gender, so I'm thinking they may have used the girl name they were going to use for my husband?

I know a Jenica. I do think it's a smooshed name, but one a few people seemed to grab onto awhile ago.
