Is Kinsley popular?

Okay, so we had decided on Kinsley something. Then, several people have told us they know one. It seemed to be really low on the list. What do you guys think?

I looked up on baby center and it was 529. What is ssa?

Kinsey, Kinsley, and a billion other cutesy nicknames are VERY trendy right now. While the might not show up on the SSA list very high, that's probably because they are popular now and that list is a year and a half old. Also, there are so many spellings that you would have to add all of them together to get the real ranking.

Plus, I think it is a horrible name. McKenzie or McKinely is where it comes from. Even though those are surnames, I'd rather them to Kinsley.

ETA: Per name nerds, in 2010 all the spellings of Kinsley were #249 and all the spellings of Kinley (very similar) were #173. If you add all of them together, they become the #101 name. Not to mention all the Brinleys and Aisleys, and other -leys...

Ugh, yes. Not just Kinsley - it's all the Kinleys and Kenleys and Kenleighs and Kinslies and then add in the McKenzies and McKennas who go by some version of Ken--- .... I can't keep them all apart and it's to the point that I roll my eyes when I see another one.

Google 'social security name list'. The 2011 stats come out in May and will probably show an increase in the collective Kin/Ken- names.

NMS, but I like it on other people's children. I know one Kinsley, and she's adorable. She's not even one yet though, so that might mean that it is just slow in becoming really popular.

I'd still use it.

I agree with this. Kinsley is trendy.

Actually I have never met anyone named Kinsley or even heard of the name until now. Just curious, would you use it for a boy or a girl?

I personally love the name Kinsley. I have a niece Kinslee Marae and the name totally fits her. When I heard it I thought it was the sweetest, girliest name I'd heard in a long time-and she's 6 yrs old now. Do hear it alot now too but still think its adorable.
