I'm increasing my water intake and honestly it's a little boring. My husband suggested I try Vitamin Water but I'm worried about taking too many vitamins and if it will overload me on things that are already in the prenatal daily vitamin. Any thoughts on the safety of Vitamin Water? Any of you drinking it or not drinking it?
Re: Thoughts on Vitamin Water?
I've always had a problem with drinking regular water so I usually opt for flavored brands! If you just want the flavor without overloading on vitamins, calories, or sugar, I would recommend bottles of propel zero. Their flavor selection is kinda limited, or at least it is in my area but I've seen: strawberry kiwi, berry, lemon, grape, and another one I can't remember. I do recommend the already bottled propel though, the flavor packets contain aspartame and the bottled water doesn't (it contains sucralose). I'm sure that propel zero bottles do contain some vitamins, but I'm sure its a pretty low amount. I doubt they focus so heavily on adding vitamins like vitamin water does.
I saw that Nestle Pure or whatever their brand is called also had some flavored waters too. It's usually stocked by the regular bottled water in our local store. I'm not sure if they contain sugar since I've never tried them or read the labels, but it might be another option for you.
HTH!!
This. Vitamin water isn't really as "good for you" as it is marketed to be. It does contain vitamins, but mostly the vitamins that most people get plenty of through eating normal meals. The regular kind has a lot of sugar, and some of the flavors contain caffeine and taurine which are not recommended for pregnancy (taurine is also in a lot of energy drinks), but if you are just looking at drinking them for flavor, I don't think you have too much to worry about. Just pay attention to the ingredients. Water Soluble Vitamins include vitamin C, B vitamins, and others. Our bodies do not store excessive amounts of water soluble vitamins, so our kidneys flush them out when we go to the bathroom (with the exception of vit. B12 which the body will store in larger amounts). The vitamins that you can "overdose" on are the fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K). That is because they are stored in our adipose (fat) tissue.
