Sudden onset of night terrors...

5 nights in a row - night terrors for Sophie.  I thought perhaps it was from being on Amox. for her double ear infection but today was her first day off and it happened again tonight.  She woke up, 2 hours after going to bed with inconsolable crying and screaming.  We can't even wake her.  This started out of nowhere, can it end just as quickly?

Any input on night terrors?

  • I don't have any first hand experience, but I did read that they tend to happen more when they are overtired.  So maybe you could move her bedtime up a bit and see if that helps for awhile?  She might not be getting the best night's sleep lately w/the EI's.  Good luck, hope it passes soon!

  • DD has/had night terrors.  It started the first week of Kindergarten and happened every single night for 3 months.  Now it happens maybe once a week at most.  I tried to make sure she was getting enough sleep and make sure she wasn't getting to hot when she was sleeping.  Those things seemed to help sometimes but waking her within 30-45 minutes of her going to sleep worked the best.  I would just try to get her awake enough to where she would open her eyes and then let her go right back to sleep.
