I have a question about any 6 month olds who are eating solids. Our pediatrician never offers advice on what/when our daughter should eat. I used to work for one and that astounds me because we always told parents what their child should eat at each age, but anway! My daughter wakes up and has a 7oz bottle, 3-4 hours later eats up to 2 jars of baby food and usually wants a bottle (5-6oz) and hr or so later, another bottle 3-4 hours later, for dinner almost 2 jars and sometimes a bottle (5-6oz) before bed. She's had some table food like mashed potatoes a few times but I'm wondering if she's getting enough? She's always been in the 25% percentile and is a small child. Most people think she's younger than what she is because of how petite she is. I just want to make sure that she's getting what she needs since she is small. Any advice will be appreciated!

Re: Eating at 6 months old
I think it sounds like your LO is getting plenty of solids. My pediatrician told us that it is important to make sure that the main source of calories is still coming from breastmilk/forumula feedings until she is closer to a year old. So even though we are up to three full meals a day, I've actually cut back on the amounts I've been offering her. If I let her, sometimes she'll eat 5-6 ounces in a setting, but then she doesn't want to nurse before bed because her tummy is still full from dinner. So I try to keep it around 4 ounces at dinner to make sure she isn't filling up on solids. Just my thoughts!
I do agree with your comment about the pediatricians not offering advice - I've found that unless directly asked a very specific question (i.e. I had to specifically ask if and when to introduce meats), ours is not forthcoming with recommendations. I found this to be so odd! Talking with other moms, I was told this is pretty normal, as some parents think that pedis cross the line between health and parenting. I still thought it was weird, though, as feeding is directly related to the health of our LOs!
