Totally mortified at ER...

So I got to my ER this am, and I was toatlly dreading it.  I hate hopping on the table in that room and having my hoo-ha just wide open and exposed for all....I liked it sooo much better when I was an IVF virgin and didn't know what was going to happen.  SOOOO... I got there and got all changed and the nurse told me the doctor's name who was going to do the retrieval (it is usually different due to their rotating schedules).  I thought to myself hmmmm, how do I know that name, then it dawned on me....he is MY patient!  I have been cleaning his teeth for 4+ years....complete and absolute dread and horror came over me.  I was so embarassed that he was going to be digging around in there, AND to top it off I have been really gassy too so I'm sure I probably farted in his face.  I don't think I can clean his teeth EVER again.  To top it off, I was Niagra falls before the retrieval, due to being soooo embarassed and I had to play it off like I was just emotional and having anxiety.....FML

legit...this sh!t only happens to me...I'm sure I will be laughing about it, but next time he comes in my office I will run and hide!!

OMG, I would've been embarassed too.  I'm so sorry you had that happen at an already stressful time.  I hope the retrieval went well, though.  Good luck on your transfer too.  I hope this cycle is it for you so you don't have to go through something like that again.

I completely agree about it being so much better to be an ER virgin, btw...  the worst few minutes are those when you've got your legs spread-eagled and strapped in and you're just waiting for the damn anesthesia to kick in so you don't have to be embarrassed any more.  I am always amazed at just how wide my legs can go... for some reason the ER setup is so much wider than the usual monitoring room one.

honestly, before i opened this i was thinking... what could have happened that she could be totally mortified... this experience definitely takes out the shyness in you... but holy mackrel i would have been mortified as well lol

Eek!!!  You poor thing!!  I would have been mortified also... I'm always running into clients in the community and it's awkward enough.  But, in your situation... I would be wanting to run out on the room!  Props to you for hanging in there though!  And like others have said, someday you will be able to look back at it and laugh.

when i had my D&C all i could think was wtf, why does there need to be so many people in this friggin room...

LOL!  yes WIDE open and strapped in...really?  do we kick or move while we are under??  I swear he knew it was me because I thought he was blushing, DH said he wasn't...

OMG that is horrible!!! LOL.  With the gown getup and hair net maybe he didn't even know it was you? I always figure no one would recognize me like that. I would totally be stalking his dental appts to make sure I was "sick" that day!!

Heh...oh man, that sucks. At least it is over with now! I'd be embarrassed, too. That said, I'm sure he's seen thousands of hoo-has in his career. 

BTW, thank you for giving me a new fear: farting in the RE's face! Now I'm going to be worried about that for my ER tomorrow morning, too!!

Oh my gosh, how awful!! Hopefully you'll look back on it and laugh one day! This makes me so grateful that I was knocked out before they put me in the stirrups-I fell asleep before they moved me at all, and woke up on my bed. I hope you are recovering well!

Same here! So, I don't know what it feels like to have them restrained like that either. I am thankful for that.

OMG!!   I am so sorry -- I am cracking *up* as I am writing this... I cannot imagine, but it's totally typical of freaking IF.  It can never be easy, can it??   Aghhh, lol, I am so sorry Bethany.  You are SO deserving of this working after all that... Good luck!!!

*edited to add that, thank God, my anesthesiologist and the nurses have perfect timing so that I am completely woozy as I slide down to the stirrups and completely out before I am even fully set up.  (Thank you, ladies, truly!!)

LOL..i know, it's bad, but i had to laugh. I can understand your embarrassment but, honestly, things like this happen all the time. I mean - he works in this field so he has to be used to running into women he knows. I think professionalism will win out on this one and you can feel free to just shrug it off. I am sure he has been in more awkward situations!

lol...well I guess they prob are used to it...I just figured your body's relaxed so I bet they sneak out all the time!  GL tomorrow for a smooth and drama free ER!!

AND I've already warned my co-workers that he needs to not be bcak in my schedule....phew!

Oh my goodness!!  Never have I heard a story like this Bethany.  lol.  So let me get this straight.  You've gotten to put your hands in his mouth, and he gets to be all up in your lady parts?  That is so not an equal trade.  I'd run like the devil if I saw him again.  hahahaha.  Really, I don't think there's a way to make that ok.  Your poor thing.  Hope your ER was good otherwise!
