Today I'm 13 or 14dpo (did a trigger, so I would have ovulated 24-36hrs later, which would make me either day 13 or 14 post ovulation.)
I did an Answer hpt on Monday, very faint positive. Clearblue Digital Tuesday, negative. Digital Wednesday- positive. Beta bloodtest today was only 49.6.
I'm going in again on Sunday for another bloodtest (since we will be OOT on Satday).
Here's my question...are the measurements of the hpt and blood test the same?
If so, I have a hard time imaging this pregnancy is viable. The nurse said it could go either way because it was so low, but not to get concerned yet.
I just think that it should double every 48 hours...it I got a positive yesterday, which had to be 50miu/ml and then today it was only 49.6....that would me it was decreasing or staying the same.
Does anyone understand my rambling? If so...give me your knowledge and opinions. (No need to sugar coat it! I'm already prepared for a miscarry)
Re: Help me think this through...beta vs urine.
Was the answer hpt a blue dye or pink dye test? it the answer hpt you are talking about are the ones comparable to the FRER, they can pick up hcg of 12 sometimes.
The digitals are a lot more sensitive than their guarantee. Let's put it this way, I got a positive on a digital when my beta was 18. I've seen people get a positive on a digital CBE when their betas were at 12.5. The CBE digitals aren't uniformly that sensitive, though, so it is possible to get a positive on one and a negative on another out of the same box.
I can understand your anxiety. Are they drawing blood again on Saturday?
HPT can show postive with HCG as low as 20-25.. so it is possible it was that low and then doubled to 50 for your beta
(ps early congrats to you!)
I did betas with DD. And I was crazy worried all the time.
I avoided them this time around. If my Dr didn't asked for them, why should I be thinking in doubling numbers and such.
But I think that a positive is a positive. Congrats. H&H 9 months.
Yes, I have a recheck on Sunday bc we are oot for a funeral sat. Thanks ladies...fingers crossed and prayers it turns out ok!
Littlebug-thanks! Pls keep it in the DL for us
we aren't telling anyone until 12 weeks!
So do I need to wish u a congrats too?!
49.6 isn't so low for 13-14 DPO. My RE likes to see 50 or above at 14 DPO, so you're right there. For this pregnancy, my beta at the 14 DPO was 65, so not too much higher than yours, and I got a very clear positive the day before on an FRER. The home tests are pretty sensitive, and could easily have picked up an hCG of 30 or so yesterday (about where you would have been).
As others have said, the first number doesn't really matter, only that it rises appropriately. Good luck to you!
