fundal height fluctuation

Hi ladies,

For those of you in your 3rd trimester or who have already delivered....

Do you remember what your fundal height was/is right before you delivered?

Up until my 28 week appt. I was measuring 7 weeks (!) ahead. Then at 28 weeks my Dr. said I was measuring 30, and just the other day at my 30 week appt. I'm measuring 32 weeks. I was told when the babies shift positions my fundal height could change ( I know my belly isn't shrinking...that's for sure!). However, both babies are in the same position as far as 'A' being breech and 'B' being head down.

Did your fundal height fluctuate so much? Do you remember your measurements at delivery?

TIA!

Re: fundal height fluctuation

  • Is the same person measuring you each time?  I honestly wouldn't worry since its not really accurate at all, let alone for multiples.  Two weeks ago my MFM's nurse measured me at 34w and then two hours later my OB's nurse measured me at 28w.  That is a HUGE discrepancy but the MFM's nurse spent a lot longer trying to get it vs the OB's who took 5 seconds.

  • Nobody bothered measuring my fundal height except once at 18 weeks.  I don't think it means all that much honestly, especially with multiples.  Growth scans are the best way to check.
