A friend is hand-making my baby shower invitations, which I am super appreciative of, but she is taking forever to finish them! We had agreed upon a date they would be done and a date to be mailed and she has completely ignored those. I am starting to stress out about not having them out in time, and having no one come to the shower!

My MIL threw me a bridal shower in DH's hometown and didn't get them out until 3 weeks before.  I about had a coronary, as mine were out nearly 8 weeks before.

I played the "My mom never got hers, did you send them yet?" card more that once during that situation.  Good luck!

I know how you feel, but try not to stress over it. My invites went out less than 2 weeks before the shower and I was freaked no one would come.

The fact is, people will find a way to come even if they get the invites a little late. If people ask you about it, let them know the date and that invites should be on their way shortly.

Is this same friend planning your shower?  If not, maybe have your hostess call her and find out where she's at with getting them done.  Invites don't really need to go out until 3 weeks prior to the shower so it seems like you've got some time (unless your shower is really early).

I wouldn't want to bug her about it, especially since she is doing this nice thing for you, but if you are really worried, just mention the date to the people who you really want to make sure can be there. You can even send out a simple text if you aren't going to see them soon. Ex. "Hey the invites aren't out yet but I hope you will be able to make it to my shower April 10!"

My MIL made my wedding invitations, and it took her all of 4 months to complete them. Apparently she was waiting on us to buy the card stock, which I only assumed she would buy since she volunteered to make them. It was probably because she was too busy making my wedding favors which I specifically told her that I wanted to make myself.
