I don't know about rentals, but someone said you can buy them online (probably amazon) for like $70. I bet it's cheaper in the long run than renting.

I got mine from babybeat.com...I totally recommend it! they have them as cheap as $22/month and they are awesome! I was able to pick up the heartbeat at about 10 weeks, and still listen to it everyday...Its AMAZING!
