first ob/gyn appointment.

i got an appontment booked for my first appointment. ill be 10 weeks at this point. im just wondering what happens. will i get an ultrasound, hear the heartbeat? and if i do get an ultra sound will i see anything ? or will it still be a little dot? thank youuuss.

I'm 8 weeks 5days, yesterday I had a transvaginal ultrasound and the baby looked almost like a gummy bear.  I could see it moving and heard the heartbeat.

By 10 weeks you should be able to see a heartbeat and the baby (he or she might look more like a chicken nugget than a baby at this early stage).

Any time you have a question about what to expect at an appointment, you'll find it much more helpful to call your doctor than to ask the ladies on the boards - every doctor does things differently so we won't be of much help other than to tell you what happened at our own first appointments.

I had a transvaginal u/s at 8w5d.  We saw the little guy, s/he moved for us, heard and saw the heartbeat and it most definitely looked like a little person.  The tech didn't even need to point it all out; the head, tummy, arms and legs were very easy to identify!  Good luck!
