2nd Trimester

cramping at 21 weeks

This is my first pregnancy so everything is really new to me. I am 21 an my whole body hurts, it hurts so bad to roll over in bed and its ridiculously painful to walk. Also when i wake up at night to use the restroom i get really bad cramps in my abdomen. When i said something to my doctor, her only response was, "You're pregnant, it is not going to be comfortable." I would just like to know if this is normal or if I should be concerned.

  • I am a week behind you but carrying twins. I have been having the same issues too. My whole back and spine HURT .. my hips HURT .. I keep getting killer headaches .. and I can't find a comfortable way to lay because I ache. Then when I am walking my lower abs are cramping and hurting. I will feel like I have to go pee something horrible and go and its only a few drops! Or when I really do have to go pee the cramping is way more intense! Actually it will get so intense it hurts. When I asked my OB he told me its normal to have the lower ab cramping. He said it is round ligament pains. He said cramps to be concerned about would be up high. I guess the higher ones would be contractions ..  This isn't my first baby but it is my first time carrying twins and its all so overwhelming! I don't remember having these issues with my other kids but then with my other ones I didn't get very big either. This time around I am getting big fast .. because of it being two. I have known my OB for 18 years .. he delivered my oldest child. So I trust him.

Sometimes to be able to sleep at night I take two benedryl. It is safe in pregnancy. For the pain you can take extra strength tylenol .. although it doesn't always help me! When you sleep on your sides put something under your knee's and if you have a small pillow or blanket use that to support your belly. It has helped me a lot at night! If your laying on your back try elevating your whole back some at an angle so your not laying flat on your spine. This is what the OB told me   =)   It helps .. some.

    Good luck ladies!
