1st Trimester

Cramping?

Hello! I'm new to this board (got my BFP yesterday, confirmed with digi this morning) and just had a quick question.

Has anyone experienced cramping in early pregnancy? I had some last week and again today. I'm trying not to get freaked out about it (no bleeding or spotting), but it does make me a little on edge since my last pregnancy ended in a loss. Just not sure if it's normal or not!

Re: Cramping?

  • I'm sorry for your loss. I can imagine why you're concerned but cramping is completely normal. I had major AF like cramps up until about 5 weeks. I'm almost 8 weeks now and I still have on and off cramping.

    H&H 9 months to you!

Yes, I had cramping early on and even some later on - which always worried me too, and I even called a few times haha. I was reassured it's growing & stretching...as long as no bleeding or horrible pain are felt, sounds like it's most likely normal! How can so many changes be going on and we DON'T feel it, right! :)

  • I had the same concerns, but my doctor said it is normal. She told me with all of the changes going on in your body and the first trimester your uterus is growing rapidly and everything is shifting around in your body which can cause cramping.

  • I had terrible cramping right at 4 weeks.  In fact, I took a HPT on Friday afternoon and it was negative- cramps all day...thought for sure AF was coming.  Then Saturday night took another one at it was positive.  Cramps continued ALL weekend.  Now they come and go but nothing like the horrible ones I had on that Friday....

  • Thanks ladies! I'm breathing a big sigh of relief knowing that it's a normal thing.

  • First off congrats!! And as to your cramping...it has been my most consistent symptom.  I've had it every day, at least a few times a day since I got my bfp.  Sometimes they are like menstrual cramps, and sometimes they are shooting pains..just keep in mind that if they aren't accompanied by bleeding they are just growing pains.  Your uterus is changing alot right now, even if your baby is still a little sprout.
