Pregnant after IF

spotting?!?!?!?!?!

I'm 10w1d and yesterday morning I was really constipated. I was in the bathroom for a while and when I wiped there was some brownish blood.  There wasn't much.  Two heavier wipes in the back and one lighter one in the front I really freaked out.  I tried to go again, and there was no blood.  About 8 or so hours later I went to pee and wiped and there was a small stringy brown thing (think of what you get a couple days after your period ends).

So I'm obviously freaking out.  It didn't continue, which i know is good - and it was definitely brown not red.  I'm not crampy either and my symptoms haven't really stopped either.

anyone experience this?

  • Okay I'm warning you this is really gross....

When I was constipated earlier in my pregnancy, I had some bleeding when I finally could poop.  I freaked out, but it was from the hard stool scrapping the colon (as my RE said) and not from anything to do with the baby.  It could be this.

  • I know spotting is really scary.  But it's also really common.  The fact that it's brown is good news, and the fact that it stopped is good news.  And the fact that you aren't crampy is good news.  If it will make you feel better, call your doc to see what he says.  But I would bet you are totally fine.  I had some spotting around 8 weeks, but it was pink.  All was fine with me.  GL.

  • If you were straining, that is probably why you saw the brown blood -- I've read over and over how common that is. If you are still worried, give your DR a call, but I bet she will tell you you're ok :)

  • it's just old blood from your cervix most likely and from straining to go (oh the joys of pg) you might have just forced it out. i'm not going to tell you to not worry because i'm the poster child for freaking out but if you're really worried it never hurts to call the doc. that's what they are there for.
