Sacroiliac joint pain?

Anyone else experiencing this?  I feel it just on my left side and sometimes it gets so bad any kind of movement brings me to tears.  And it's strange part of the body that's hard to keep still.  I'm thinking of finding a chiropractor for the remainder of this pregnancy.  I don't really know what else to do.

Re: Sacroiliac joint pain?

  • Yep and it is horrendous.  I've had it off and on throughout the pregnancy.  I had it around 28 weeks for about a week and then again around 36 for about a week.  It would sometimes hurt so bad it would take my breath away and bring tears to my eyes.

A heating pad and stretching helped me.  A chiro would probably help too.  I don't currently have one and everytime I was going to look one up, it would get better.

  • Yes and it is the worst pain ever!  I see a chiropractor every 2 weeks, but I feel like I may start needing to go once a week now. I had it so bad after having my DD and I am hoping that is not the case this time around.  Stretching helps me also.  Mine was so bad that it took a couple weeks of going to the chiropractor to feel a little better.  I would definitly look into the chiropractor.

  • Does this feel like pain in your hip area? I have horrible pain in my hip area and sometimes its only on one side or the other, but it seems to be much worse if I get up and walk or do anything physical. It gets so bad that I cant move at all. If i try to get up or roll over I get stuck and the pain is so bad I will be in tears!

  • I'm in this boat too! However, I've had this prior to pregnancy too.

You can get a belt that more or less holds everything together (I got mine off Amazon). It helps relieve some of the pain. Otherwise I just lay on a hard surface on my back...

    Pit sucks but I've read it's typical...good luck... :/

  • I started seeing my chiro around 30 weeks with my first because I was in so much excruciating hip pain. She helped a ton.

With this pregnancy, I started going right away in first-tri and I've not had any hip or back pain. So.. I highly recommend you get thee to a chiro!!

  • I had SI problems with my first pregnancy. The chiropractor didn't help me but I've heard it helps others. What really helped me was physical therapy. I went once a week for the 2nd half of my pregnancy. As long as I went weekly, I didn't have pain between appts. Just find someone familiar with maternity issues. There were some great stretches that helped too. Until you find a PT, look up some of these exercises: Cat camel exercise, prayer stretch, pevlic tilts while standing or on a ball. Also there's the stretch where you sit on a chair and put your ankle on your opposite knee and lean forward a bit. Those helped me the most. There were a few others the PT would do with me and then she'd do some massage on my lower back area. Helped a ton!

This time around I have that combined with pubic symphysis distasis and because the things that would help one would hurt the other, I'm pretty screwed and just have to hope June gets here soon.
