I have a friend who had her baby boy yesterday. We always joked how I was going to stop talking to her for the 13 weeks between our due dates because I didn't want to hear her horror stories.
I wen't up to visit her as soon as I was off work and as soon as I walked in the door she said "Brandy, you've got this. You have nothing to be afraid of. Whatever pain there is truly does just disappear when you see your baby's sweet face". She went on to tell me she literally had no horror story. She was in labor for 9 hours, didn't get an epidural until she was at 8 cm, pushed for 45 minutes, and only ended up with one stitch.
I started crying. It was really so nice to FINALLY hear a positive birth story and not the constant horror stories that women seem to spew out as soon as they hear you are pregnant. I just wanted to share for any other mom's looking for a little encouragement because it really helped to calm my nerves.
Re: Finally a positive birth story from a friend
Thanks for this!
I know horror stories can freak you out, but having a personal point of view of things that went good and bad can help prepare you for the worst, which i would rather know about going in than be surprised while in labor.
Just another point of view.
Hope you have a nice and easy labor and delivery...same for all of us!
