Hey all! I'm 22 weeks preggo (this is my first pregnancy) and next weekend I am running a half-marathon. I've been cleared by my doctor and all that good stuff. My only problem is that apparently someone has taken up residency on my bladder. Do any other active moms-to-be out there have any tips to help me get through the 13 miles?? Is there anything I can wear or do that would make this easier? I don't want to bail just because I feel like I have to pee all the time. I could really use some advice!
Re: Baby-On-Bladder....
I've run three halves and a full since becoming pregnant, most after 16 weeks. All I can say is that you will need to stop a lot! I ran my races at Disney and was blessed with the bathrooms at the park. I also studied the maps ahead of time and tried to see if I could find out where the port-a-potties were. Also, when I 'ran', it was more of a powerwalk/jog because Baby did NOT like the running motion. Or maybe he did-he kicked all through it. He was pretty mellow when I just powerwalked.
No matter how much I went before the race, I still had to go within the first mile. Just starting that jostling with the heavy baby on my bladder made me have to go.
Lastly, bring some kleenex to use as toilet paper. By the end of the race distance wise, the toilet paper runs out. I found out the hard way.
