Nickname for Oliver?

We have not picked a boy name for sure but Oliver is in the top 5, but just wondering what nicknames there are... I am blanking... DH says there has to be a nickname possibility.

I know people tend to be either in the "yeah! nickname boat, the more names the merrier" or "anti nickname my kid has a name boat"... we are somewhere inbetween). Our DS is called by his middle name Caden which I would never have thought of a nickname for but goes by Cae mostly.

Thanks for your suggestions

Re: Nickname for Oliver?

  • I would say Oli, but olie olie oxen free? Hmm kids can be mean... I really like the name Oliver so I probably wouldn't even use a nick name.  Our favorite boy name is Declan, so it doesn't really have a lot of nn potential either.

Those are good, I think they would qualify for DH's nickname possibility requirement.  Thanks I knew some one's pregnancy brain was working better than mine.

  • I've only heard Ollie for Oliver. It's an ok nickname but I definitely prefer Oliver.

  • I have an older male relative whose name is Oliver Winston and he's gone by O.W. (pronounced "Oh-DUB-ya" in a lovely southern twang) since birth.  So you could try initials.
