Hi all. I had an ultrasound today, and while the baby looks good/strong heartbeat, there apparently is some sort of tissue mass in my uterus below my baby. This wasn't there last week. I'm going to a high-risk Dr. tomorrow morning, but has anyone had this happen?
She said there's a small possibility that it could be a molar pregnancy, which cannot sustain a fetus.
Anyone go through something like this? T&Ps appreciated.
Re: Has anyone's Dr. thought you may have a molar preg?
I had a suspected partial molar pregnancy last year. It was never fully confirmed, but because of my HCG levels and the tissue that was tested after my D&C it was suspected. It started as what seemed a normal pregnancy, but at about 9 weeks I started bleeding and when I went in for an U/S it showed that the baby had stopped growing/no heartbeat and there was a tissue mass growing around the baby.
I am sending thoughts and prayers your way! Please keep us updated!
I had a partial molar pregnancy in the summer of 2010. At our 7 week ultrasound to confirm viability, there was no heartbeat and no indication of a molar pregnancy. It wasn't until after my D&C (for a "missed miscarriage") that the pathology proved it was a partial molar pregnancy.
Most molar pregnancies don't look like a solid mass on the ultrasound. Molar pregnancies will appear to look like a cluster of grapes.
I'm sending you T&Ps right now because I'm sure your mind is in a million places at this moment, worrying and wondering. I hope it turns out to be nothing and your little one is just fine, and the mass is harmless. Please keep us posted, and don't hesitate to PM if you have questions or anything.

Last yr I went in for my 1st U/S at ~7wks; I was dx'd with a missed m/c as the baby had stopped growing >1wk and there was no heart beat. There was no suspicion but my RE sent the tissue to pathology, which came back as possible partial molar pregnancy. The main downside of this was that I had to take a 6 month break w/monthly HCG check, before we could try again b/c there is a small chance that the abnormal cells could have spread elsewhere (it behaves a bit like cancer)
