Cruise question

Okay so another poster asked about cruising in early pregnancy. 

Well I'm currently scheduled to take a cruise at the end of September. I'm due in October which would put me at 8 months or so pregnant.

I was really looking forward to going but now... I was thinking I had to cancel.

I'm assuming I should cancel.... but I was just wondering if anyone else thinks I could still go?

Most cruise lines only let a PG person abord as long as they are LESS Than 24 weeks pregnant.  You also have to have a form filled in by a doctor.

 Here is Carnival's policy:

PREGNANCY POLICY

Pregnant women are only allowed to sail if pregnant for 24 completed weeks or less at time of cruise disembarkation. All pregnant women are required to produce a physician?s letter stating that mother and baby are in good health, fit to travel and the pregnancy is not high-risk. The letter must also include the estimated date of delivery (EDD).

i believe the crusie line wont allow you to cruise over 24 weeks.. you might want to call and double check on the time frame....

Yeah, unfortunately even with a doctor's note, they probably won't let you aboard.

I have never taken a cruise but I assuming what the women are saying above is correct.  However, if the cruise line should let you go I would not recommend it.  Being at 8 months means you could go into labor at pretty much any time.  Being in the middle of the ocen is not my idle place to give birth.  My OB/GYN also said they will not let me travel at 8 months (unless an emergency) because of this.  Sorry but canceling is your best bet.

Most cruise lines won't let you travel over 24 weeks. In my opinion, it's not a good idea at all to go - you don't know what your pregnancy is going to be like. For instance, what if you start to go into labor early? Then you're forced to give birth on the cruise ship or the island, and away from your doctors.

I know it sucks to miss out on a vacation, but you have to think of your and your baby's health first.

You can't go. They won't let you. And do you really want to be out at sea if something were to happen?

I went on one when I was 7 1/2 months pregnant.  This was 16 years ago so check with the cruise lines policy.  Personally I would never do it again that far along.  I was miserable between flying, the change in food, the sun, not sleeping in my own bed and swelling.

I'm going on Royal Caribbean in May and I'll be 16 weeks.  The cruise line's policy is the same as pp's wrote above.

 Royal Caribbean International cannot accept guests who will have entered their 24th week of pregnancy by the beginning of, or at any time during the cruise or cruisetour. A physician's "Fit to Travel" note is required prior to sailing, stating how far along (in weeks) your pregnancy will be at the beginning of the cruise and confirming that you are in good health and not experiencing a high-risk pregnancy. The "Fit to Travel" note should be faxed to the Access Department at 1-954-628-9622.
