Pregnant after IF

Is my Dr just being cautious? Beta #3

Hi ladies. I never thought I would get the chance to post here and am so very thankful. We transferred our last frozen blast 2/23. My beta's since have been:

11dp5dt:  31

13dp5dt: 112

18dp5dt: 1358

Doubling times appear to be normal but because they started so low, my RE wants to see me on Friday for an ultrasound to make sure it's not ectopic.  Is there a high chance it's ectopic or is he just being cautious?

  • How far along would that be?  It is pretty common to get an u/s around 5 weeks to ensure it's in the uterus.

  • Friday will be 5w6d. At first my IVF nurse was going to schedule the first ultrasound for next week 3/21 which would be 6w4d. The fact that he wanted to schedule it earlier made me think he thought the risk was high. I can't help but over-think everything

  • I'm sure they just want to make sure it's where it's supposed to be.  Your betas look great.

  • My RE does an u/s at that time for every patient to see if it's ectopic. It's normal in his practice.

  • My RE did my first u/s at 5w3d.  They can't see much before 6w besides the gestational sac and possibly a yolk sac inside it, but at least they can verify how many there are and that it isn't ectopic.

Oh yeah, if you're going to be 5w6d, I say it's totally normal.  IF makes us so worried about everything, but try to relax.  (Haha, I know, easier said than done!)

  • With us, my RE told me that FET can have slow starts, and thats why the numbers are lower than "normal", mine were low to start as wel and everything is going great so far! :o)

Good Luck! And congrats on the baby! :o)

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • Well u started off low, but ur doubling times are good.  At 5w1d, I had my 1st ultrasound.  They will def be able to see if it's in the uterus, at the point ur going.  GL!!!

  • My first u/s was at 5w6d, so it's pretty normal to make sure the baby is in the right spot at this time!

    Good luck at your u/s!!
