Ok, so I've got my second appt today and I'm just wondering what they are going to do? I'm going to be 12 wks on Wednesday! Yay! They did the ultrasound already at my first one. Anybody know what's next?
Pee in a cup, weight check, fundal measurement (maybe some providers don't start until 16 weeks), heartbeat, questions and pap/pelvic if you haven't had one recently (my OB/midwife do them if it's been more than six months since the last one and they do it at the 12 week appt).
For my second appointment, a nurse went over all of the optional genetic testing we could choose to have done (NT scan, amnio, CP test, etc) and talked about cord blood donation, nutrition and all of that good stuff.
If you're unsure, you can always feel free to call your doctor's office and find out what to expect. Pretty much count on having to give a urine sample every time you go from now on. Better to show up with a full bladder than an empty one.

I had ultrasound every appt up until the gender ultrasound at 20weeks which was done at an imaging center. Then they said they would not do an ultrasound unless they thought something was wrong. I have learned that is not the norm though.
Anyway you will have blood pressure checked pee in a cup check the heartbeat maybe a pap exam and then ask any questions and scheduled next appt.

I have my first appointment tomorrow and I'm not getting an ultrasound...I'll be 6 weeks, they said that the ultrasound would be at 10 weeks (as long as my insurance covers it). I'm bummed. I've read all these people hearing heartbeats at 6 weeks and I have to wait 2 more weeks!
I just had my chat in an office about family history, nutrition and all that. I got a urine test to check for infection and they took 4 viles of blood but none of them are to check any beta or hcg levels. They said, I have the ultrasound on the 27th and at that time I'll either have miscarried or there better be a baby in there, because if its not in there, its somewhere.

Which was super comforting.
