Hello! We're planning on using a diaper service as soon as the baby is born so pre-folds are the only type of diaper we'll be using (that's what is provided with the service).
If you were going to do pre-folds with covers from the beginning what would your cover stash look like? I'm trying to add to our registry and so far all I have are size 1 and 2 Thirsties and some Grovia.
(I'm aware I may end up hating pre-folds, in which case we'll discontinue the service when it runs out & pursue other types of CDs.)
TIA
Re: Diaper Covers for Prefolds?
We have mostly used prefolds so far.
For covers we had some Thirsties xs (3) which were my favorites and Thirsties duo wraps size 1 (3). Now we also have some Bummis size small (2). I also made some covers, which is pretty easy if you have a basic machine and beginner sewing skills!
I started with 3 extra small and 3 small Thirsties covers. I added 2-3 Thirsties Duo's.
You need at least 6 covers. Especially at the beginning when baby poops a lot.
I loved our Diaper Service, until it got too expensive. Prefolds with or without a snappi are easy.
Thanks ladies!!! So glad I found this posting as I had the same question myself. From reading reviews on Amazon it seemed like Thirsties were the way to go. I had originally just registered for the size 1 duos but I added one of the XS just in case. I also get 3 covers as part of my diaper service so it sounds like with 6 or 7 covers I should be set? Did anyone register for the bigger sizes up front or is it better to wait and buy them later yourself? Not sure if another brand would be better for a bigger size.
Thank again, ladies! I registered for a quite a few in different brands and sizes. Hopefully they don't go to waste. We are planning on using DH's cousin as our nanny, but she might not be available right away and it's possible we'll have to use a daycare short-term.
The daycare we visited on Monday said they didn't allow cloth diapers, but the Director didn't seem to know much about it (she referenced diaper pins) and might be able to be swayed. Fingers crossed!
