1st Trimester

Any other plus size and pregnant ladies?

I am still carrying 20 lbs around from DS.  I gained a total of 50 punds with DS.

DH and I were planning on starting a diet this upcoming week since I was going back to day shift and it would be easier to take walks together.  We would also eat dinner at home and could cook healthy.  I still plan on watching what I eat and also exercising, but I am worrying about my weight.

I know I am plus sized - size 18.  I have always been on the heavy side, but this is by far the biggest I have ever been.

Any of you ladies in the same situation?  What are you doing to help control your weight gain?  I do understand that gaining weight is part of being pregnant; however I need to be healthy for me and for my baby.

Hi! I am a long time lurker. I just recently started posting on my BMB. But I wanted to reply to your post because I too am plus size (size 24) and I am expecting my first. This is also the biggest I have ever been. I had just started Weight Watchers when I found out I was pregnant. And I'm really scared about gaining too much weight. I talked with my doc and he said he sees no reason that I couldn't do WW. So I've been sticking with that, making sure i drink enough water and I just recently started walking with my sister. I know obviously I am not going to lose weight but I am just trying my best to stay as healthy as I can. It's hard!! Especially since sometimes the healthy stuff sounds gross.

Don't worry girl! We can do it! Just stay positive and think of the end result! Beautiful healthy babies!!

  • Before I got pregnant with son I lost a total of 100 pounds, was at the gym 5-7 days a week and loved it.  With my son I gained 40 pounds most of it fell off right away but within the 2 years now of my sons life I have put on 35 pounds because of not getting the gym as much.  We eat very healthy but with my body I need to be at the gym to stay in shape.  I wanted this weight gone before we had another child but that is not happening.  I am so worried about putting on more weight :(  I am a size 16 now and I just don't want to be where I was before my first son.

  • Just do the best you can to eat a healthy diet. That's what is important for the baby and you. I'm a plus sized mommy too. If you are up to it, exercise is good too. I've been lacking on that the last month or so because I've felt crappy and tired.

  • I'm one as well & it's tough. This is my first baby & I try to make sure that I stuck to my healthy eating habits more. I wonder off on to bad stuff at times but get right back on track, I've notice that with my morning sickness it's helped keep some weight off but I make sure I eat something healthy. And if my bowl movements stay active then I'm good if not then I feel like I've gain 100lbs of pounds. just know your not alone we can do this!!!

    Best Wishes!!Big Smile

  • I am plus sized also and this is my first. Im trying to walk daily weather it be at work when I check condo floors or at home with DH. As hungry as I am I make sure that my snacks are healthy options and am trying to cook at home as much as possible so we dont have to worry about picking up fast food. The doctor said I could gain 15-20lbs so Im trying to stay within that range which is hard when I am sooooo hungry. Best of luck ladies!!
  • I'm a plus size mum, size 22 :) I was 16 when I had my first son and thought I was invincible so I ate EVERYTHING and gained a whopping 90lbs lol That was 13 yrs ago and since then I've had 2 more children and gained of course :( My last son I had was 7 yrs ago and I didn't gain or lose any weight with him..however I lost 37lbs the DAY I had him, he was 10-4 of it lol little buggar.

This will be my last pregnancy and I'm determined to lose the weight after he or she comes. Its taking quite the toll on my body and I'm only 29..I've got hip problems and I just don't feel healthy. It's hard to eat healthy when I'm eating every hr and a half just to shake the m/s...I have it all day long. I eat tons of fruit and I take my vitamins but I'm not gonna lie, I give into my salty cravings or I'm screwed in the end if I don't and I will binge.

Anyways, I hope everyone has a wonderful pregnancy and don't forget to treat yourself...summer time is coming and I know I'm DYINN for a pedicure!! LOL good luck my sexies!!!

  • Hello.

I am plus size as well and this is my first baby. I am a size 16/18. I actually lost 100lbs over the past 2 years so that has been a great thing but this pregnancy was a suprise. A very happy suprise at the least though. I am looking foward to all the things that every other pregnant women looks foward to reguardless of being plus size.

GL to all the plus size mammas out there :)

  • I'm plus sized, and my midwife asked me to try to keep my weight gain to 15 lbs during my pregnancy.  She told me to eat small meals throughout the day, partly to help maintain my blood sugar and partly to help with weight gain.
