The first is overall sleep question- I am at my wits end. LO has figured out how to stand up in the crib and as she has cut her first bottom teeth, she is FAR more interested in standing at the edge of the crib chewing on the crib protector than she is sleeping. Eventually she gets tired and slips or falls down or something and bumps her head or bumps her mouth and it's the most pitiful thing ever- am I alone in this? If I go in there, it just creates a vicious cycle. I'm really not sure what to do with her. Sometmies she'll sit in her crib or stand up at the rail for 45 minutes. Happy until she falls down and then she's miserable until she sees me, thinks I'm coming to get her, stands back up and it begins again.
The second is a night question- LO only takes a paci for naps and at bed time but is now waking up several times at night looking for paci and crying. Should I get rid of it altogether? I'm not at all opposed to CIO and had done it once before but we caved and gave her paci back when the first tooth came in bc she was so miserable. Also- when we first tried to take her paci away, bed time was no problem but naps were a NIGHTMARE. Suggestions?
Third question- similar to paci issues, when she wakes up at night, should I just pat her on the back and let her cry? We've never done that... Not sure how to go about it. Is that the best way?
Re: Nap/Sleep questions- not sure what to do
Random thoughts/suggestions: My LO has not discovered standing up yet, but its coming, have you moved the mattress down? That way when she stands she won't be at the side of the bed or might not be able to stand at all. I know putting it all the way down at this point is annoying and hard to get her but it might help? I to have to avoid going into the room otherwise it just makes the situation worse because she thinks I am staying and when I leave it is a major breakdown cry.
Paci: I put like 6 paci's (glow in the dark ones) in her crib for her to find at night and during naps, if she wakes up crying for one I give her a few minutes to see if she can figure it out on her own. It took us a while to get there but now she finds it on her own. Yes she plays with them at naps but normally she ends up putting one in and falls asleep.
Hope this helps!
