Breastfeeding and Nipple Piercing

So, I had my nipples pierced for years, and I took them out about 2 or 3 years ago when I had laproscopic surgery.  Does anyone know, or has anyone had experience, as to whether or not there is any trouble with breastfeeding after taking the piercings out?

Most women can have success after this procedure.  I think it has something to do with the way they were pieced, vertical vs horizontal. Definitely check it out!

I had mine both pierced and breastfed my daughter for 14 months with no issues.

I had removed my piercing a few years before my daughters birth, and although I didnt breast feed my daughter for a long time, it had nothing to do with the piercing, so I think you should be okay mama!!!!

coming out of lurkdom- i had one nipple pierced and my son actually preferred that side. i nursed him for 18 months.

I also had both my nipples pierced 6 years ago.  Even though I took them out a long time ago I am afraid it will screw with my breastfeeding goals.  Midwife says I will be fine but it is great to hear from others who were successful after piercings.  Thanks! Good luck everyone!

Everything I've read says that it won't affect breastfeeding at all and the few others I've talked to about it that have already done it said the same thing, just to make sure not to feed the baby with them due to choking hazards.  I figured that was pretty much a given, but...
