1st Trimester

Looks like no...

more baths for me for the next 35 weeks. Sad I read that you are fine to take baths as long as they are around 98 degrees, so I ran a bath tonight and pulled out the thermometer to see how hot my bath was and it was over 104 degrees! So I tried to get it down to around 98 and was freezing! So looks like I will be sticking to showers!

  • sorry, just lurking too.. 98 degrees is less than body temp are you sure thats what they told you? i thought it was 102. i still took pretty hot baths throughout pregnancy too like PP said.

also- at some point, 20 or 24 weeks or something like that i think baby becomes more able to regulate his own body temp and at that point its not nearly as dangerous. GL!

I definitely feel your pain. It seems that one of my current symptoms is that I'm FREEZING. All I want to do is sit in a hot bath, but all the literature I've read says no. They also mention to not use an electric blanket... do you suppose seat heaters in the car are OK?

Me too!! I'm constantly cold...hubby can't understand why I go to bed shivering, it kills my back oww lol A bath is what comforts me..when I think of it, I had quite the steamer last week to shake the chill. I use a heating pad on my thighs some nights for some warmth-I suffer from hip pain constantly as well, as long as its not blasting and not directly where the baby is. Those car seat warmer/massagers....ooohhh yeeaaaahhhhhh babyy, I love those!! Again as long as you're not scorching your lower back with it it should be fine :) We gotta stay comfy somehow while this lil being takes over!!

  • Im with you tooo!! I love my baths scorching hot! My doctor also told me that baths can cause infections or yeast infections as well... she never said not to have them but that those are the risks. Id rather just avoid all risks this early in my pregnancy!

I took a bath like every day before I got pregnant...I never even tried to temp and take a bath once I got pregnant becuase I knew it wouldn't be hot like I like it! I have gotten used to it now, but I will be excited to take baths again after baby is born :)

  • When I saw my doctor this past Tuesday, she said the same thing. Definitely no steaming hot baths, jacuzzis (you can't have the jets hitting your back), or heating pads on your stomach or back. She said that if I needed to relax to take a hot shower. This won't hurt the baby due to me not being submerged in it for a period of time. And, on a side note, I also heard that baths could cause infections too. :(
