Baby food & microwaves

Hating warming her food in the microwave. Anyone have an easy, quick method besides the microwave?

Re: Baby food & microwaves

  • Not nearly as quick as the microwave, but I've taken frozen cubes inside ziploc bags and sat put them in just-boiled water from the kettle.  I'm sure putting them right in a boiling pot would work too.  But that might leech chemicals from the plastic to the food (I have no actual evidence to believe this btw so please don't take my word on it), which is probably worse than the microwave.  Who knows.

If the boiling will leach them, so will putting them in just boiled water.  After all, if you leave a plastic water bottle in the summer heat, it'll do it and it gets nowhere near boiling.  So, if you're worried about that, find another method.

  • I only use glass containers when feeding the baby. If u don't want to microwave I'm sure u can put it in a pot on the stove. Or you might try floating a bowl of food in hot water.

  • I scoop out some food (from a jar in the fridge) into a cup container and float it in a glass of really warm water.  It's not boiling temp to destroy the composition of the nutrients but it warms it quickly (I get the rest of the feeding supplies ready in the meantime, ie bib, high chair, spoons).

  • I float the bowl in a bowl of hot water long enough to take the chill off.

  • Do you have a bottle warmer?  We use ours to warm jars of food for little one.  It just uses steam.  Not quite as fast as the microwave, but doen't leave hot spots either.
