best part of day/worst part of day

I know our day is far from over and some of you with newbies and infants do not really have an end time,  but it could result in some discussion and getting to know you stuff. so if you would kindly add I'll start:

best part:  the group hug with matt (almost 7) and sean (5) as we got home and we were taking our coats off. sean said we needed daddy too and would have to do it again later.

worst part:  today a CSE meeting with an 18 1/2 year old, no parent present, no way of him continuing his program next year because he hasn't earned enough credits at his age, and functioning at a 4th grade reading level.  We came up with a plan for next year, but I could tell his heart was broken.  I needed that hug.

Re: best part of day/worst part of day

  • Best: kicking butt on my presentation at a large industry conference. Con: not seeing my kids today due to said conference.

  • Best: forcing myself to get up this morning to start week three of the C25K program (which I have started and stopped multiple times since January Sad )

Worst: stressing about our guest bath being completely ripped apart (no toilet or vanity at this point) because we are having a party this weekend for DD2's first birthday. STRESS!!!

  • Best: today is my day off so I was child free pretty much all day. I got a lot accomplished around the house and some errands done.
Worst: our power is out right now. No idea why.

  • Best: snuggling in bed with all three kids reading book.

Worst: getting a call from hospice letting me know that if my Mom doesn't respond/improve on the antibiotics in the next few days, they recommend putting her on morphine where she will just sleep all the time until she passes in about a week. Sigh, I feel sad.

  • So sorry, Joyce+Mike. That has got to be difficult to say the least.

Best: DD#1 has been trying to earn enough money to buy this $20 stuffed My Little Pony thing at Target. She saw it one day when we were there and wanted it and I told her it wasn't on our list (i.e. I wasn't just going to buy it for her) but if she wanted to do some extra chores to earn money for it, she could do that. Well, she's been insisting on counting the money for like a week now and we finally counted it tonight. She is only one dollar away! So she's going to help me clean out the car tomorrow morning to earn the last dollar and then we are headed to the bank. I was so excited for her.

Worst: Today was my last day officially in the office before this baby comes and I got a lot accomplished but it still wasn't enough. Now instead of finishing some things up around the house, I'm going to go back in tomorrow morning and to try to wrap some things up. I was hoping to feel a sense of accomplishment and really leave things in a good place and instead I felt rushed and scattered and ended up bringing home some work to do tonight, too :(

ETA: Wow, mine were really long - sorry about that!

  • oh hugs joyce+mike,  I can't imagine what you must be feeling.

and snowflake mom, you probably will be able to feel like you got things wrapped up at work with just *a little* more time. I had to do this with both of my past leaves at work too.  I actually stopped into my classroom for an hour or two after hours just so I could feel like I had wrapped everything up.  wow! you are going to have a newborn (again) and soon! how exciting!

  • Best: the dog getting a clean bill of health at the vets today. I was seriously stressed that something was wrong but nope! (she bruised her a tail pretty badly but I was terrified that it was more than that) Worst- My allergies may actually kill me today. I've sneezed so much and so violently today that I've peed myself a little three separate times and my face is on fire. Benadryl is doing nothing, script is doing nothing and my only option of getting into the dr being Urgent care tomorrow after DH gets back from his business trip.
  • I'll use my yesterday since today just started...

Best Part: DS1 had Math Night at school and it was nice getting to spend some one on one time with him, plus seeing him interact with the teachers and his friends his nice :).

Worst Part: Yesterday morning was horrible! We were rushing to get out the door and I couldn't find my keys. I had to give up looking and take DH's car. They've been doing road work right by DS's school so every morning there is a long line of cars backed up and since we were already running late I decided to try a "shortcut" someone told me about. Yeah, it was not a shortcut. DS1 wasn't late to school, but he missed being late by 2 min! After I dropped DS2 off I found my keys in my purse, where I'd looked twice! It was just a bad start to the day all around. Luckily it went up from there Smile.

ETA: I'm so sorry Joyce+Mike, T&P to you and your family.

  • BEST: playing a board game with DD#2 and her little buddy (and having fun... DD's autistic, so seemingly simple things like this are a BIG deal.)

WORST: Having to clean the entire house after bedtime in preparation for DH's return from his ski trip (I'd pretty much blown off cleaning for the entire time he was away, so the house was a pig sty.)

Joyce+Mike, so sorry for what you're going through...

  • Best - so far today has been a good day - both girls were happy this morning and I got lots of hugs plus my almost 4 year old (Tuesday is her b-day) had a little dance show at daycare that I was able to go to.

Worst - honestly I have not had a worst part yet other than the rainy weather but honestly, it is melting the snow so I will be happy about it.  Who knows the rest of the night will bring since I have to get the girls in an hour and do showers tonight and we had a late night last night since DH's aunt/uncle were in town so tantrums might be in my future but keeping my fingers crossed that they are not and we can make up for the later than normal night with an early bedtime tonight.
