Recommendations on cleaning products?

Do you have any recommendations on cleaning products that you feel comfortable using around your home now that you are pregnant?

I've been asking my husband to do things like clean the tub for me (and thankfully he's fine with helping), but would like to start doing more myself.  Any recommendations?  Am I just being too paranoid?

Re: Recommendations on cleaning products?

  • Another vote for Method, though it is not specific to Target.
  • I use water and white vinegar in a spray bottle for just about everything.

It's nice, too, bc if she drops something on the floor, I know that if I just cleaned, and she picks whatever it is back up and puts it in her mouth, we're good to go.

Not only is it safe and eco friendly but it cleans well!

  • Baking soda and vinegar cleans most things in our house...or Seventh Generation herbal-based disinfectants for tub/bath.

  • I clean with the clorox greenworks products. They aren't really 'fumey' at all, and they are mostly natural.

That and I do tell all my friends I have the best smelling toilets around. And it's true. The toilet bowl cleaner smells deliciously like limes.

  • I haven't really changed my cleaning routine. I just use gloves while I'm pregnant & make sure the room is ventilated well.  I do try to use more "natural" products though...but not always.

Baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice, etc usually works really well when mixed together & put into a spray bottle.  I know there are recipes online you can find that show you how much of what to add together.  :)

  • I switched to eco-friendly cleaning products about 5 years ago and will never go back.

I use vinegar mixed with water to clean my tub, toilet, floors, and countertops. I also steam clean when something is really dirty. Baking soda and salt are great if something needs scrubbing.

If you don't like the vinegar smell or want something antibacterial that you can buy in stores, I also like the Method orange antibacterial countertop spray. They have several cleaning products that I like and have used in the past. They also have a great toilet and tub scrub that smells like peppermint.

Here are some instructions if you want to make your own products like I do. It will save you a ton of money...

  • We've been making our own green cleaning products for over 5 years. It is easy, safe, and cheap. Here are some green cleaning entries from my blog, if you are interested.
  • Definitely Method products, 7th generation is also good, and you can never go wrong with homemade recipes-no chemicals

  • Thank you for your suggestions!  I can't handle the smell of vinegar right now..so I think I'll try 7th gen or method.  Thanks!!
