1st Trimester

An intro (I hope!) and a question

Hey everyone!

I'm back for my second go-around... at least I think so!  My daughter Abby is 20 months old and we just started TTC LO#2 this month.  I was diagnosed with Graves Disease last September and got my thyroid under control a few months ago and my endocrinologist finally gave us the green light to TTC.  I was paranoid enough when I was pregnant with Abby, but now that I know there's a higher risk of m/c in women with Graves disease I'm probably even more nervous this time!!

I'm 10 DPO today.  I had spotting two days ago when we were out of town, so when we got back home yesterday I tested with a FRER (in the late afternoon, not FMU) and got a very faint line.  I tested with a digital and an internet cheapie, both negative.  I tested again later after holding my pee for a few hours and got a slightly more obvious line, but still very faint.

This morning I tested with FMU and got a positive on the digital but nothing on the FRER, which is holding me back from actually "celebrating" anything since I always thought the FRER should definitely pick it up if the digital did!  So I'm tentatively joining you ladies and hope I'm here to stay!!!

(ETA: My question was whether a digital + counts more than a FRER -... would you retest later in the day?)

Re: An intro (I hope!) and a question

  • I only test first thing in the morning since that's when the hCG levels are most concentrated in the urine.  Even if I couldn't wait and tested the afternoon / evening before, I'd retest first thing in the morning to be sure.  False positives are rare, so when I finally got a positive, I went with that result, made an appointment with a MW and didn't take another HPT.

I wish I was as strong as you so I could stop peeing on things!  I'm going to call my doctor and make an appointment today - I have no idea if this pregnancy will be treated any differently because of the Graves, so I guess any positive is a positive til it says otherwise, right?
