1st Trimester

Has anyone else experienced or know about this?

today I am 12 weeks 1 day. I've had a little har time "getting enough air" and taking deep breaths and I feel really full in my abdomen. Is this normal or does anyone know why this is happening? My lower back has been kinda achy too. Could it be the uterus raising up? no idea.. help?

  • I have no answers but Ive been short of breath since before the BFP.

I don't *think* your uterus would be moving up yet, but I'm not a doctor....

  • I had shortness of breath with DD and it was my blood pressure. I kept telling my OB about it and not until later did they see that my blood pressure was up. I guess my blood pressure is kinda low so when it was high it was just a smig.

But when I get up in the morning now my chest feels weird I'm just thinking now that it's due to the increase blood volume.

  • I don't think that it would be your uterus raising up quite yet to the point where it would effect your breathing. It usually doesn't even reach your belly button until 20 weeks if I remember correctly from my first two pregnancies.

My guess is that you feel out of breath because your body is requiring more oxygen now that you are suppling it to baby as well. Best way for your body to get more oxygen is to breathe faster or deeper, and doing this for long periods of time can lead to you feeling winded. Try to rest as much as possible and avoid anything that causes too much exertion. If it gets worse I would recommend seeing your OB just to rule out any other causes.
