zofran

I am having a really hard time with nausea... literally it lasts all day long. I only seem to feel ok when I am sleeping! I have noticed some people love Zofran... any side effects? I don't want to be drowsy for example. Also, does it really help? I haven't wanted to take anything but I want to feel better!

Re: zofran

  • Zofran does help quite a bit, but a huge side effect is constipation...

This.  It was so bad that I decided that having m/s was not nearly as bad as the constipation, so I quit taking Zofran.

same here haha... I could deal with the nausea  but not the constipation lol

  • I am 9 weeks and I have had the worst nausea since week 6...I put my self on bed rest...and bathroom floor rest...I couldnt keep anything down. The Doc gave me Zofran and at first it was a miracle then my body adjusted to it and it didnt keep me from getting sick or just feeling sick so I talked to the doctor again and he said I could take 8 mg a  3 times a day since I was taking 4mg, its helping....I will say I have been constipated but that also comes from your prenatal vitamins so either way I would rather not feel sick! I still feel sick sometimes but I went to Babies R US and got an anti-nausea ginger mint tea, PSI wrist bands and Preggie pop drops....I have felt so much better since! Good luck and feel better.
  • I guess it depends on the person beacuse i have been using Zofran and i feel soo much better but have not had the side effects everyone is talking about! :( i have not been consipated i feel 100% better then what i have been feeling lately Smile I hope it works for you if you choose to use it! It was a life saver for me!!!

  • obviously (and you will hear this alot) every one is different in their pregnancies...

as far as m/s... Mine started around 9 weeks or so, and was totally gone at around 16 weeks, then started coming back around 23 weeks every now and again... It still hits me maybe once a week or so...

  • I've been taking Zofran, but I have 4mg pills, and I try to keep it to one or two a day.  At night I take the unisom/b6 combo.

I haven't been constipated, YET.  But that's a big reason I've been keeping the Zofran to a minimum, just in case :)

  • Zofran has worked for me, for the most part.  Even though the whole times its in my mouth I gag and my eyes water as I try not to puke, but once its down I usually keep everything else down as well!  Constipation has started to kick in, definitely less than ideal and I am not a huge water drinker, even though I force myself as much as possible.  I would say it's worth a try for you- since for me, the vomitting is SO horrible that I am handling the constipation.  I try to take just 1 zofran a day (8mg).  Goodluck!

  • I was so sick when I was pregnant with my daughter that I was hospitalized for dehydration, so for me zofran was a life saver and I was sick from week 6 to week 16. I did have some constipation but that is very common symptom of being pregnant anyway. Hoping not to get sick with this one, but if I do I will definitley be taking it again.imageimage
