3rd Trimester

Any tips to get things started?

I had a dr appt. this morning and I have not made much progress. I'll be 38 weeks tomorrow. My other two babies were 2 and 3 weeks early. What are some suggestions to get this show on the road? Dr. swept my membranes and told me I could schedule an induction for next Tues, but I want to go into labor naturally. Just getting anxious to meet this little guy or gal. Thanks ladies.

  • I agree with PP, I'm sure we're all anxious to get the show on the road, but I'd let nature take its course.

  • I went into labor with my first, after the midwife stripped the membranes, within 24 hours. Good luck! (But she was already 2 weeks overdue).

  • Nothing will work if your body and baby aren't ready anyway, so I don't see the point in trying.  You said you want to go into labor naturally, so just relax and let the baby come on it's own.  I don't see what the big hurry is either, your due date is still two weeks away.  I definitely would not be discussing induction at this point when it's not medically necessary.

Cervical dilation has nothing to do with when you'll go into labor, so don't worry about your lack of "progress."  All that means right now is a high chance of a failed induction leading to c/s.
