Cloth Diapering

using CDs as a swim diaper?

I am just curious if any of you use CDs as a swim diaper?  If so, what brand did you use?  Did you put anything over it or just use it as is?  I have iplay swim trunks that have a swim diaper in them and love them, but they seriously limit our options.  LO has some rash guard/sun shirts that I am looking to match. I should mention that I do not CD daily due to being a working mom and daycare preferring sposies, but don't want to spend the $ on disposable swim diapers. TIA!

Re: using CDs as a swim diaper?

  • Swim diapers are the easiest place to CD. I use Charlie Banana swim diapers, but Bummis also makes one that's popular. DS put it to the test last swim and there was no leakage at all. If you do get a poo, just plop it out and rinse it out as well as you can and then wash it in the machine.

  • The issue with using a standard CD as a swim diaper is that the chlorine and pool chemicals can damage the elastic and other components of the diaper.  If it's not one you particularly care about, go for it.  We use a Swimmi by Bummis and have been VERY happy with it.  A size medium has lasted us 2 summers and she could still likely fit into it if she needed to.  They're pretty inexpensive and you really only need 1 unless you expect a poop incident.  My girls have never pooped in the pool though.

  • I used the kushies swim diapers with the velcro & tie closures. I love them and had 4 for my daughter. She pooped everytime she got in water, yes even the bathtub;( but they clean up no problem. I am getting more for my son now.
