I just started cloth, and i was confused at first too. you basicly jsut use a small trash can, lined with a waterproof bag. They have a "kit" on cottonbabies.com so you can see what i'm talking about. its under "diaper accesories."
Or something as simple as a pillowcase if you're on a budget. It's not waterproof like a pail liner, but does the job of holding the diapers until wash day.
I use a Hefty step can (11 gallon I think) that I bought at Target. I line it with a wet bag I made out of PUL and some elastic that I bought at Jo-Ann. My bag is just a rectangle of fabric with the bottom and one side sewn together. I folded down the top about 2 inches to create a casing to slip some elastic into so that the bag wouldn't fall into the can. When it's time to wash I pull the bag out, turn it inside out in to the washer so all the diapers fall in and then throw the bag in on top.

You can purchase a specific 'diaper pail'
https://www.amazon.com/Diaper-Dekor-Plus-Disposal-System/dp/B00005V6C8/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1330906192&sr=8-4
Or you can use something as simple as a kitchen trash can

You use a pail liner on the inside.

I've found an 8 gallon pail holds all I should try to do in one load anyway.
So I have an 8 gallon step pail and a pair of monkey doodlez pail liners.
