WOHM & Halloween

How many of us stayed home and how many came into work?

It's days like this that I really HATE not being a SAHM! DD has her Halloween parade at pre-school @ 10am and trick-or-treating in my town is only from 3p-6p (=totally lame!!!). MIL is going to the parade to take pics for us. I'm hoping that we get let out early (I work for the fed gov't and they usually let us off 2 hours early, so I'd be home by 2:45pm) if not then MIL gets to take DD trick-or-treating while I sit at my desk.

This is DDs first year where she is really excited and aware of what Halloween is and I'm missing it... I'm having a pity party in my cube right now.

Re: WOHM & Halloween

  • Fortunately, I decided to work from home today.  I'm actually able to do that whenever I want because I have a great boss. We'll be able to get out early for the little kids parade/trick or treating in the neighborhood.  I am lucky to have a flexible work arrangement.
  • That sucks!  My company is really flexible about that stuff.  Some parents leave to go to their kids' schools and come back later to do some work.  As long as we make up our time, they don't care.  Today I am WAH so that I can go to my DS's party at school and be home in time to TOT.  If I couldn't WAH today, I probably would have taken the day off.

  • I'm taking a half day, but that's just b/c I'm driving 2.5 hours to my ILs alone with the kids. DS1 is having a party at school today. We'll take him ToTing tonight when we get to the ILs.
  • I'm working today, but leaving early (2'ish). If ds went to daycare and had a special event today and Grammy wasn't around to go, I would have to take the day off. Our festivities don't start till around 4:30, so we are good to go.

  • Not only is today Halloween but it's the Phillies World Series Parade (I work in Philadelphia) so it was a "restricted" day to take off/leave early... they base who can take off by seniority and in the grand scheme of gov't employees I'm a newbie so there was no chance of me getting off and I'd probably be fired if I called out.

  • Could you have taken a vacation day??

I don't work on Fridays --- so that works out this year.

Last year --- I got up extra early, went in to work early so that I could leave early.  Got home about 5 and we went out around 6:30 (after dinner) for TOT.  Weird that they do it so early where you live?  Kids here don't go out until 6ish.

    That really, really sucks!  Sad

  • I am working all day today, but we are having a Halloween party and trick or treating in the office for the kids.  So I will leave at 3pm to pick DS up and bring him to my office to TOT with the other kids and then we will TOT in our neighborhood tonight.

  • That is a total bummer for you! If I had things like that to go to, I'd totally take off for the day (or at least a half day). I'm at work, but we don't have set T or T hours, and my kids are at a home daycare, so no Halloween parade. Sorry that you are missing out! You should have had MIL video it for you!
  • I am working all day today - maybe leaving an hour early so I can get stuff together for our trip to my parents tonight and TOTing there.

  • I am working all day in the office.   I took Wed off to take the kids to a Halloween parade and today they have a Halloween party at school, so they'd want to be there for that.   I can work from home but I NEVER get anything done when I try.   We will go t or ting at 6 or 7 whatever time it starts.  I thin of what do for dinner cuase we willl not have much time
